Privacy
What is collected when you visit, in plain language. It is a personal site, so there is not much.
Policy
The short version
No advertising, no trackers sold to anyone, and nothing about you handed to third parties for marketing. A couple of analytics tools are used to tell me which pages get read. That's it!
Analytics
Visits are counted with Google Analytics and PostHog. They record the page you opened, an approximate location, your browser and referrer, and set a cookie so repeat visits are not counted twice. They do not tell me who you are.
Cookies and local storage
Analytics cookies come from the two tools above. Beyond those, my own code keeps two preferences in your browser's local storage: whether the “now playing” card is collapsed, and until when you have snoozed the random quote. There are no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking pixels.
Signing in
The site has a sign-in, mostly so I can add media logs and quotes. Authentication runs through Supabase, which sets a session cookie. Anything written while signed in like quotes, film and series logs and watchlist entries is stored in Supabase's Postgres database and is only editable by the account that created it.
Hosting
The site is served from Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare may keep standard request logs, such as IP address and user agent, for security and abuse prevention.
Slippers
If you click “leave your slippers” on the home page I store your country which is taken from the request headers Cloudflare adds plus a hash of your IP address and user agent. The hash only exists so the same visitor is counted once. Your IP address itself is never written to the database. The total number of slippers left behind, and how they break down by country, is shown publicly on the slippers map.
Your choices
You can block cookies and scripts in your browser and the site will keep working. If you want to know what is stored about you, or want it deleted, email me and I will sort it out.
